Uplawmoor Tennis Club will launch its new season with all the fun of the fair at a ‘come and try’ Family Open Day on Sunday May 13 when non-members will be assured of a very warm welcome.
The day’s activities start at 1.0pm with a Mini Tennis taster session and tournament for the under 12’s.
Then there is a whole range of activities, including the chance to beat ‘Boris’ the ball machine, and a fastest serve competition, with the serve speeds measured help of a speed gun.
Later in the afternoon there will be an American Mixed Doubles tournament for seniors and associates, starting at 2.30pm.
There will also be face painting on offer, and the chance to sample Uplawmoor’s famous ‘Match Teas’.
Club President Murray Pollok said: “This is the first stage of a major recruitment drive which we hope will take the club to a new level.
”There will be membership discounts and free junior coaching vouchers on offer on the day.
“We are working with the Alan Martin, our local Active Schools Coordinator to put 500 flyers round local schools including Uplawmoor and those in Neilston and Dunlop to let everyone know about the Family Open Day.
“We think we have something for everyone and are looking forward to giving tennis in the area a real boost.”
